The Olojudo Aláyémọ̀ré of Ido-Osun, His Royal Majesty Oba Olayinka Oyetunde Ishola Jokotola Ilufemiloye I, has pledged his support to the Osun State University to partner with the institution to foster community development and outreach initiatives.

 

The monarch, who is an alumnus from the university’s first graduating class, was accompanied by members of the Aláyémọ̀ré-in-Council.

 

The Monarch who paid an official visit to Institution, Osogbo Main Campus, on Wednesday, where he was received by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Odunayo Clement Adebooye, along with the university’s management team.

 

In his welcome remarks, The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adebooye described the visit as symbolic and commended the monarch’s enduring connection to the university.

 

He highlighted the rapid transformation the institution has undergone in less than two decades and noted that the university will be marking its 20th anniversary in 2026.

 

Key achievements mentioned during the Vice-Chancellor’s address included the establishment of the UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital and the creation of the UNIOSUN Medical Outreach Campus in Ada, generously donated by philanthropist Engineer Tunde Ponle. He also spoke on the university’s continued expansion, infrastructural development, and rising national and international standing.

 

Oba Jokotola expressed his delight at the remarkable progress made by the institution and praised the Vice-Chancellor and his team for their visionary leadership. He reaffirmed his commitment to the university’s growth and stated:

 

“As a member of the pioneer set, this moment fills me with joy and gratitude. UNIOSUN is not just growing, it is thriving. I commend the leadership of Professor Adebooye and his team for lifting the banner of excellence. As a royal father and alumnus, I am committed to contributing to this journey of greatness.”

 

 

However, the visit ended in agreement between the palace and the university to initiate a formal partnership aimed at fostering community development, youth empowerment, cultural education, and support for academic programs and outreach initiatives. The collaboration is expected to commence in the near future.
