Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford is on the verge of a move to Barcelona following approval from the club’s manager, Hansi Flick.

Renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed the development on Saturday via his X (formerly Twitter) account. According to Romano, Barcelona submitted an official bid for Rashford earlier in the day and have now initiated direct negotiations with Manchester United.

“In the past 24 hours, an internal meeting was held where Luis Díaz was deemed too expensive. Barcelona are now fully focused on Rashford,” Romano stated. “The deal is progressing smoothly and has received the go-ahead from Hansi Flick.”

Romano further noted that the transfer discussions currently revolve around a loan move with an option to buy, as also reported by The Athletic. Rashford, it was revealed, had already agreed to a move to the Spanish giants back in January, with the player reportedly harboring a long-time ambition to play for Barcelona.

The 26-year-old England international is expected to depart Old Trafford this summer, having fallen out of favour under new manager Rúben Amorim. Rashford spent the latter half of last season on loan at Aston Villa.
