The University of Ilesa (UNILESA) has earned high praise from the South West representative on the Board of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Hon. Sunday Adepoju, for its prudent and impactful use of TETFund allocations in advancing infrastructure and academic development.
Hon. Adepoju gave the commendation during a recent visit by his delegation to the university, where he assessed TETFund-sponsored projects and explored opportunities to secure additional funding for the institution.
He noted that the projects visited were evidence of the university’s commitment to excellence, transparency, and growth.
During the visit, two major projects were officially commissioned —the newly renovated Career Service Centre, listed under the 2024 TETFund Intervention, and the newly constructed School of Languages Building, executed under the 2022 Intervention.
The buildings are expected to enhance academic delivery and create an enabling environment for student development, particularly in career planning and linguistic studies.
At a reception in honour of the visiting team, Hon. Adepoju described the projects as crucial steps in repositioning the university for innovation and research-led growth.
He expressed confidence in the institution’s trajectory and pledged his support in lobbying for more funds to address infrastructure and academic needs.
“The University of Ilesa is clearly making significant strides. With a strong focus on innovation and research, it is well on its way to becoming a hub for academic excellence in the South West,” he said.
Welcoming the delegation, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Taiwo Olufemi Asaolu, Ph.D, FCA, represented by a Council Member and Director of Continuing Education, Dr. O. O. Aduroja, acknowledged the essential role TETFund plays in raising academic and infrastructural standards across Nigerian institutions.
He reiterated the university’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and responsible management of all interventions received.
“We at the University of Ilesa deeply appreciate the support of TETFund. Without it, one can hardly imagine the progress we’ve made. We are committed to ensuring these interventions continue to translate into measurable academic gains,” Prof. Asaolu stated.
Also present at the event were the South West Coordinator of TETFund, Engr. (Dr.) Taiwo Lukman, along with the university’s principal officers and senior management staff.
