Nearly 2 million Nigerians applied for positions in the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) 2025 recruitment exercise before the portal closed on Monday, August 11.

The process, which faced repeated technical glitches and multiple postponements, eventually ran from July 21 to August 11, after the initial June 26 start date was twice rescheduled.

According to CDCFIB’s official data, a total of 1,911,141 applications were submitted. Kogi State topped the list with 116,162 applicants, followed closely by Kaduna (114,536) and Benue (110,565).

Bayelsa (11,669) and Lagos (14,216) recorded the lowest numbers. The top five states Kogi, Kaduna, Benue, Kano, and Niger accounted for over 510,000 applications, while the five lowest  Bayelsa, Lagos, Rivers, Ebonyi, and Delta together had just under 100,000.

Following the closure, the board announced via its official X handle that shortlisted candidates will soon be contacted with details on the next stage.

Applicants are urged to check their emails, text messages, and the CDCFIB portal and social media accounts regularly for updates.

“Recruitment Applications Closed! … Shortlisted candidates will be contacted shortly,” the statement read, thanking Nigerians for their interest in serving “with honour, integrity, and national pride.”
