Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has submitted the names of eight commissioner-nominees to the State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation, in line with constitutional requirements.
The announcement was made on Friday by the governor’s spokesperson, Tersoo Kula, who described the move as a major step toward strengthening governance and enhancing service delivery across key sectors.
Kula also revealed that a second batch of nominees will be forwarded to the House in the coming days.
The nominees in the first batch are:
Hon. Theresa Odachi Ikwue
Hon. Dr. Benjamin Ashaver
Hon. Dr. Adamu Margaret Ijaguwa
Hon. Dr. Peter Oboh Egbodo
Dr. Yangien Timothy Ornguga
Hon. Denis Iyaighgba
Hon. James Dwem
Dr. Paul Ejeh Ogwuche
This development follows the recent dissolution of the state executive council by Governor Alia on Wednesday, which saw the dismissal of all commissioners. Only the Chief of Staff position was retained, now held by former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Moses Atagher.
