Police in Oyo state have arrested a member of the All Progressives Congress and popular critic of Governor Ademola Adeleke, Gafar Ifedolapo also known as Governor Ifedolapo.

Kamiludeen Lamina, the Chairman of World Institute for Peace, broke the report on Facebook on Tuesday.

Lamina alleged that the arrest was in connection with Ifedolapo’s criticism of the administration of Governor Adeleke in Osun State.

Lamina said, “Ifedolapo has been arrested by Gov. Ademola Adeleke of Osun state for criticizing his administration.

“According to him, the Special Adviser on Legal Matters and the Chief Security Officer to the governor are the aides in charge of the arrest. The guy is currently in the court.” Lamina wrote.

InsightMedia gathered that Ifedolapo, who resides in Ibadan, Oyo state, was already being taken to a Magistrate Court in Ibadan.

Confirming the incident, members of the APC in Osun, Funso Fagboungbe and Adam Olajide said the arrest was made on Monday evening.

Olajide said, “yes, it is true. Immediately he was arrested, his phones were seized and they just gave him this morning while on their way to court. They are currently in the court premises.”

Fagboungbe said the state chapter of the APC is working on getting him out, declaring that Adeleke’s government is responsible.

When contacted by InsightMedia, Special Adviser to Governor Adeleke on Legal Matters, Nurudeen Kareem said he would get back to our correspondent.

Subsequent call to him was unanswered.
