Lauretta-Onochie

Former presidential aide Lauretta Onochie has penned an emotional tribute to her late former boss, Muhammadu Buhari, lamenting what she calls the erosion of the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) founding principles since his departure from office.

In a post shared on her verified Facebook page on Thursday, Onochie who also served as Chair of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Board accused the ruling party of abandoning the values Buhari stood for, including fairness, equity, justice, and accountability.

“Dear Baba, APC is now a private enterprise. It has lost all the values you stood for. Fairness, equity, justice, equality and everything has been thrown away,” she wrote, using the colloquial term “kpaied” to stress that these ideals had been discarded.

She criticised what she described as a growing culture of impunity within the party, alleging that misconduct is now overlooked or even rewarded.
“APC chieftains assault airport staff, hijack planes, and are rewarded as ambassadors. Wrong doing is decorated with roses and perfumes unless you belong to the opposition,” Onochie stated.

Despite her disillusionment, Onochie assured the late president that many of his supporters remain committed to the moral standards he championed.

“Sorry Baba, there’s no more APC. Thank you for showing us that righteousness is possible among Nigerians and in Nigeria. God bless your soul,” she concluded.
