A yet-to-be-identified man lost his life on Monday after falling from a motorcycle and being crushed by a Volvo truck in the Rounder area of Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.

The spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the incident in a traffic update, stating it occurred around 9 a.m.

According to him, eyewitnesses reported that the victim, who was riding as a passenger on a moving motorcycle, fell onto the road and was immediately run over by an approaching truck.

He said, **“A reported fatal accident occurred at the Royal Gate Filling Station along the Rounder/Mile 2 area, Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State.

“It involved a Volvo six-tyre truck with number plate BDG 747 YH. Three male adults were involved. One male adult is presumed dead.

“According to an eyewitness account, the victim fell from a moving motorcycle, and the oncoming truck ran over the victim.”**

Akinbiyi added that the remains of the deceased have been deposited at the State Hospital Morgue in the Ijaiye area of Abeokuta.

“The presumed dead has been deposited at the State Hospital Morgue, Ijaiye, while the accidented vehicle has been taken to Sabo Police Station,” he concluded.

Monday’s incident follows a similar tragedy on July 26, when a woman was killed at Ita Oluwo, a boundary community between Lagos and Ogun states, after a speeding truck with failed brakes rammed into another truck, trapping her in between.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority later confirmed that the crash involved two iron-rod-laden Iveco trucks, identified by number plates QX 189 KSF and YA 701 AAA, and was caused by brake failure and reckless speeding.
