The Federal Ministry of Education has announced the successful resolution of a technical issue that affected the release of the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results.
According to a statement from the Ministry’s Director of Press, Folasade Boriowo, the glitch was traced to the post-processing stage in subjects where paper serialisation had been introduced by WAEC to enhance examination security.
The Ministry commended the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) for its swift and professional handling of the situation and assured candidates that updated results would be available via the result checker portal within 24 hours.
“We appreciate the patience of affected candidates and want to reassure the public of our unwavering commitment to fairness and credibility in the national assessment process,” Boriowo stated.
This resolution aligns with the Minister of Education’s broader reform agenda, which emphasizes integrity and accountability in national examinations.
The Ministry announced that both WAEC and the National Examinations Council (NECO) will begin a phased implementation of Computer-Based Testing (CBT), starting with multiple-choice components by November 2026.
“The move to CBT is a crucial reform to reduce exam malpractice, curb question leakages, and restore public confidence in the system,” Boriowo added. “Dr. Alausa, the Honourable Minister, has made it clear that protecting the credibility of national exams is non-negotiable it is essential for the future of our youth and Nigeria’s global reputation.”
