The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has formally petitioned the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Inspector-General of Police, calling for an investigation and possible prosecution of veteran Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as Kwan 1, following an incident aboard a domestic ValueJet flight.

The incident occurred on Tuesday during flight VK201, allegedly disrupting standard operational procedures and raising concerns about adherence to aviation safety regulations.

According to preliminary findings, the musician’s behavior reportedly violated provisions of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations.

In a statement released on Thursday, the NCAA disclosed that it has requested a thorough investigation and potential criminal prosecution under the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations 2023 and other applicable laws.

To further uphold accountability, the Director General of Civil Aviation, Captain Chris Najomo, has issued an advisory to the Airline Operators of Nigeria, recommending that Kwam 1 be placed on a No-Fly List for all commercial flights pending the conclusion of the investigation.

“This advisory aligns with international aviation best practices aimed at safeguarding the safety of passengers, crew, and flight operations,” the NCAA said.

The Authority emphasized that all passengers regardless of public status must be held to the same behavioral and safety standards.

“No individual, regardless of status or public image, will be allowed to compromise the integrity of Nigeria’s aviation industry,” the statement added.

The NCAA reiterated its commitment to maintaining strict discipline and safety standards within the sector, stressing that acts endangering lives or disrupting operations will not be tolerated.
