President Bola Tinubu has extended heartfelt condolences to Ghanaian President John Mahama, the government, and the people of Ghana following a tragic helicopter crash that claimed eight lives, including Ghana’s Defence Minister, Edward Omane Boamah, and Environment Minister, Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed.

The Ghanaian presidency confirmed the incident shortly after the military reported losing contact with a helicopter carrying three crew members and five passengers on Wednesday.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu offered prayers for the souls of the deceased and comfort for their families.

“President Tinubu assures President Mahama and all Ghanaians that the thoughts and prayers of the Nigerian people are with them during this time of profound loss,” the statement read.

“He urges the bereaved families and the Ghanaian nation to find solace in the fact that their loved ones died in patriotic service to their country.”
