The Conference of Professionals in the Peoples Democratic Party (CP-PDP) has declared that Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and former governor of Rivers State, is no longer considered a member of the PDP.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the group said Wike’s continued alignment with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and his open support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration effectively disqualifies him from holding any claim to the opposition party.

The CP-PDP accused Wike of trying to interfere in the internal affairs of the PDP through what it described as “irrelevant media outbursts” that are unbecoming of a former party leader.

Obinna Nwachukwu, Chairman of the PDP Professionals, who signed the statement, noted that the party had moved on from Wike’s “antics and bullying tactics.”

“The FCT Minister must understand that the PDP can no longer be manipulated or intimidated by political diatribes,” the statement read. “He is now an appointee and apologist of the failed Tinubu administration and has no standing in the PDP.”

Addressing Wike’s recent references to court rulings on leadership issues in the South-South and South-East chapters of the PDP, the group dismissed his remarks as baseless. It reaffirmed that the party’s leadership structures in those zones remain intact and legitimate.

“Wike’s claims about court orders regarding our zonal leadership are of no consequence and should be ignored,” CP-PDP stated.

The group urged Nigerians to disregard Wike’s comments, emphasizing the PDP’s renewed focus on party unity and its role as the leading voice of opposition in the country.
