Nigerian Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke popularly known as Davido has been officially inducted as a voting member of the Recording Academy, the body that organizes the prestigious Grammy Awards, ahead of the 2026 edition.
The multi-award-winning singer hailed the development as “a gamechanger,” emphasizing the significance of having a voice in shaping the outcomes of the globally acclaimed music awards.
“I have learned that voting empowers you to have a say in what is considered and voted on in each season,” Davido said in a video message, expressing his excitement about the new role. He added that it is an honour to join the Academy and he looks forward to participating in the voting process.
Davido first earned three Grammy nominations at the 2024 awards but did not secure a win. His fourth nomination came in 2025 for Sensational, his collaboration with Chris Brown and Lojay, which was shortlisted for Best African Music Performance but ultimately lost to Tems’ hit Love Me Jeje.
