A widely shared video on social media has captured a joyous moment as Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan returned to the National Assembly on Tuesday, resuming her legislative duties after months of suspension.
In the video, supporters of the Kogi Central senator can be seen cheering as they accompany her back to her office. A man is heard offering prayers, to which Natasha responds, “Amen.”
Her return follows the unsealing of her office in Suite 2.05 of the Senate Wing by the Deputy Director of the National Assembly Sergeant-at-Arms, Alabi Adedeji.
Speaking to reporters, Akpoti-Uduaghan declared she had “no apology to tender,” reflecting on the six-month ordeal since her suspension.
“It’s amazing what we’ve endured — the unjust suspension, blackmail, and even that crazy lady on Facebook,” she said.
“But we survived it. I give glory to God and thank the people of Kogi Central and Nigerians at large. To my husband, I love you dearly. May all men support their wives like you have supported me.”
She didn’t hold back in criticizing Senate leadership, saying.
“Sometimes, it’s necessary to challenge institutions. We won’t back down in the face of injustice. No one is more Nigerian than us. Senator Akpabio is not more of a senator than I am. He’s not the governor of the National Assembly.”
She further described the Senate’s leadership as dictatorial, calling it “totally unacceptable.”
Her return has sparked widespread reactions online, with many praising her resilience and the enthusiastic welcome from her supporters.
