Nottingham Forest have confirmed the appointment of Ange Postecoglou as their new manager, following the dismissal of Nuno Espirito Santo.

Nuno’s departure comes despite guiding Forest to European football for the first time in 30 years after a seventh-place finish in the Premier League last season. However, he became the first managerial casualty of the new campaign after publicly admitting that his relationship with club owner, Evangelos Marinakis, had broken down.

Insight Media gathered that Postecoglou, who was sacked by Tottenham Hotspur in June after leading the club to Europa League glory will now takes over at the City Ground. Although he ended Spurs’ 17-year wait for a trophy, the Australian was dismissed after overseeing their worst league finish since 1976/77, with the club ending the season in 17th place.

Despite that setback, Marinakis expressed confidence in Postecoglou’s track record of success with Tottenham, Celtic, Yokohama Marinos, and the Australian national team.

“We are bringing in a coach with a proven and consistent record of winning trophies,” Marinakis said. “His top-level experience and ambition to build something special here at Forest make him the right man to help us achieve our goals.”

The 60-year-old, who was born in Greece, will take charge of Forest’s upcoming clash against Arsenal at the Emirates this Saturday. The club currently sits 10th in the Premier League with four points from three matches.

Forest are also tipped as strong contenders in this season’s Europa League and Marinakis is hopeful Postecoglou can replicate his continental success. His attacking philosophy is expected to mark a sharp contrast from Nuno’s more cautious approach that delivered results last season.

“After promotion, steady growth, and finally achieving European football, our next step is to compete at the very top and challenge for trophies,” Marinakis added. “Ange has the credentials to take us there, and we are excited to begin this new chapter.”
