The Anambra State Police Command has arrested four suspects allegedly involved in armed robbery and kidnapping, recovering a pump-action gun and a black Toyota Camry with registration number SMK 835 FC.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the arrests were made on September 24 by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, acting on credible intelligence.
The suspects, identified as Uchenna Aniegboka, Sunday Nwakalor, Chukwuebuka Aniegbunam, and Onyebuchi Udemba, all males between the ages of 22 and 40, were apprehended in Aguleri, Anambra East Local Government Area.
Ikenga said, “Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command attached to the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, in the early hours of September 24, 2025, acting on credible intelligence, stormed Aguleri and arrested four suspected members of a criminal gang allegedly involved in armed robbery and kidnapping in the area. During the operations, one pump-action gun and one black Toyota Camry car with registration number SMK 835 FC were recovered.”
He added that the suspects are still being interrogated, while the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has reiterated the command’s resolve to ensure criminal elements find no safe haven in the state.
“He further urged members of the public to continue to provide timely information to the police to aid in the fight against crime,” Ikenga stated, adding that the case would be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
This latest arrest comes weeks after the command apprehended another four suspects on September 2 for armed robbery and kidnapping around Amansea and Awka. During that operation, two pump-action guns and nine live cartridges were recovered. The suspects reportedly confessed to abducting two victims in August, keeping them in a bush in Enugu State, and releasing them after a ₦5m ransom was paid.
