The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed readiness to welcome Governor Siminalayi Fubara into its ranks.

Speaking on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Tuesday, the party’s spokesperson, Darlington Nwauju, said the governor would be warmly received if he chose to defect.

“If I were the governor of Rivers State, upon my return on Thursday, I would announce my defection to the APC,” Nwauju stated. “I think the governor should join the APC and we would gladly receive him.”

Nwauju noted that under the APC’s constitution, Fubara would automatically become the party’s leader in the state once he joins.

He also commented on the performance of the state’s Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas (rtd), over the past six months, stressing that the APC has not called for any probe of his administration.

Both President Bola Tinubu and the suspended Governor Fubara are expected back in the country on Tuesday ahead of Rivers State’s planned return to democratic governance on Thursday.
