The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the schedule for the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and a mock accreditation exercise ahead of the 2025 Anambra State Governorship Election.
In a statement released on Monday by the Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Victoria Eta-Messi, the Commission said that eligible voters who registered during the recent Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) can collect their PVCs from Wednesday, October 22 to Sunday, October 26, 2025.
According to INEC, the collection exercise will take place at designated Registration Areas across the state. The Commission emphasized that collection must be done in person, as no proxy collection will be allowed.
INEC described the exercise as an important step for all voters intending to participate in the forthcoming governorship election, urging them to take advantage of the window to collect their cards.
As part of preparations for the poll, INEC also scheduled a mock accreditation exercise for Saturday, October 25, 2025, in selected polling units across the three senatorial districts of Anambra State.
The mock exercise, the Commission explained, will test the upgraded Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and assess the efficiency of result transmission to the INEC Result Viewing (IReV) Portal ahead of the main election.
Selected Polling Units for Mock Accreditation includes:
Anambra Central: Awka South (Amawbia II – Igwédimma Primary School I & II)IL, Idemili North (Nkpor II – Ububa Village Square, Ifeadigo Hall)
Anambra North: Oyi (Nteje III & IV – Girls Secondary School, State Primary School)
Anambra East (Aguleri II – Central School, Umunoke Public Square I)
Anambra South: Aguata (Ekwulobia I & II – Central School, Urban Girls Secondary School), Orumba North (Ajalli I – Primary School, RCM KDT School)
INEC encouraged voters in these areas to take part in the mock accreditation, noting that their feedback would help refine operational and technological procedures before the election.
Reaffirming its commitment to transparency, efficiency, and stakeholder confidence, the Commission assured that all necessary measures are being put in place to guarantee a smooth and credible governorship election in Anambra State.
The election, scheduled for November 8, 2025, will mark the end of Governor Charles Soludo’s first term under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
The keenly contested poll is expected to feature major political parties, including the Labour Party (LP), All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and APGA, all vying for control of the politically strategic South-East state, which is widely regarded as the stronghold of former presidential candidate Peter Obi.
