Yoruba Nation agitator, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho has appealed to the new Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, to intervene in his ongoing issues with the Federal Government, particularly the freezing of his bank accounts.
Igboho, accompanied by some of his supporters, paid a visit to the monarch at his Bodija residence in Ibadan on Monday. The closed-door meeting reportedly lasted about 40 minutes.
According to a statement from his media office on Wednesday, discussions at the meeting touched on insecurity in the South-West, recent bandit attacks in parts of Kwara State, and Igboho’s legal and political challenges with the Federal Government.
“The Olubadan assured that he would step in to address the difficulties Igboho is facing, including his designation as a wanted person and the freezing of his bank accounts,” the statement partly read.
Insight Media recalled that in 2021, operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), supported by soldiers, raided Igboho’s Ibadan home in Soka. Two of his aides were killed and 13 others arrested, after he was accused of stockpiling weapons.
During his visit to Olubadan, Igboho congratulated Oba Ladoja on his ascension to the throne, describing him as a respected leader across Ibadanland and Yorubaland. He also expressed willingness to collaborate with the Federal Government to improve security in the region.
“Olubadan has always been a father figure to me since his time as governor. His reign will undoubtedly foster peace, unity, and development in Ibadanland and Yorubaland,” Igboho said.
