A man identified as Alex, also known as Fleximore, has died days after being shot by suspected gunmen in the Iyana Isashi area of Ojo Local Government, Lagos State.

The incident occurred around 8 p.m. last Friday. Witnesses said Alex had just returned from work and stepped out to meet a friend when two men on a motorcycle intercepted him. One of the assailants allegedly pulled out a gun and shot him at close range before fleeing the scene.

“The sound of the gunshot drew people to the spot, and they found him lying in a pool of blood,” a resident told PUNCH Metro. Alex was rushed to the hospital, where doctors battled to save his life. However, he remained in a coma until Wednesday morning, when he was confirmed dead.

Reports from residents suggest the attack may have been linked to a confrontation Alex had at a nightclub in the area a day earlier. According to a friend, Quadri, Alex had engaged in a heated argument that escalated into a fight with some unidentified individuals at the club.

“Alex was not a troublesome person, but some of his friends who were there said the fight was unusual for him. Many believe the shooting could have been connected to what happened that night,” Quadri explained, adding that burial arrangements were already being made.

When contacted, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said she was aware of the case and would seek confirmation from the divisional police officer in charge of the area.

Communities around Iyana Isashi and along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway have in recent months witnessed several cult-related and motorcycle gang attacks. In August, PUNCH Metro reported a similar incident where unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle shot and killed a passenger inside a commercial bus near Okoafo.
