Popular Nigerian comedian, actor, and activist Adebowale Adedayo, widely known as Mr Macaroni, has strongly denied an allegation circulating on X (formerly Twitter) that he raped a 17-year-old girl.

The accusation was made by an X user, @Lukurawa16703, who claimed that Macaroni assaulted a minor and used the police to intimidate the victim’s family into silence. The user made the claim while reposting one of the comedian’s tweets criticizing President Bola Tinubu’s administration over rising insecurity.

Responding, Mr Macaroni described the allegation as “horrendous and distasteful,” insisting that it was fabricated to damage his reputation. He also alleged that the accuser was a known supporter of President Tinubu and the APC and was attempting to smear him because he frequently holds the government accountable.

The comedian stated that he would pursue legal action against the individual behind the account and requested public assistance in identifying the person in order to take the necessary steps.

While reaffirming his commitment to speaking truth to power, Mr Macaroni said: “This tweet also serves as an opportunity to strongly refute this ridiculous accusation and any other kind from the infested supporters of the APC. Their disease will continue to spread because I won’t stop criticizing this abomination of a government.”
