Former Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti has dumped the Omoluabi Progressives, a group loyal to the National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.
Adeoti left the group and in extension, the ADC, after he failed to secure the endorsement of the group for the governorship ticket of the party.
In a obtained by InsightMedia on Sunday, Adeoti said his withdrawal from the group he co-founded with other leaders was due to person and family reasons.
He said, “I, Alhaji Moshood Olalekan Adeoti, the Deputy Leader of Omoluabi Progressives in Osun State, hereby tender this letter of withdrawal from the group, which I co-founded with other Progressive-minded
individuals across the state.
“This also includes my complete withdrawal from all the group activities henceforth.
“My decision to withdraw was never an easy one, especially each time I looked back and consider all my
investments into ensuring the survival of the group throughout its turbulent period from its inception till
date.
“Coupled with this has been the pressure from my family members, both immediate and extended, on the need to take an immediate short rest from all political activities.
“I want to specially thank everyone of my fellow Progressives for the level of trust reposed in me while in
the group and wishing the current leadership success in all the group’s future endeavors.”
Adeoti was backed by Aregbesola to emerge the factional governorship candidate within the All Progressives Congress against former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola in 2022 and he challenged the primaries in court.
In 2018, he clashed with Aregbesola and left the APC to contest on the platform of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) after he failed to secure the governorship ticket of the APC.
