The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has dismissed reports circulating online that a naval officer, Lt. Ahmed Yerima who recently had a confrontation with FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike survived an assassination attempt.

The viral reports, which surfaced on Sunday night, claimed that Yerima was followed by unknown men dressed in black and riding in two unmarked Hilux vans without number plates. According to the claims, the alleged trailing began at the NIPCO Filling Station along the Line Expressway and continued to Gado Nasco Way.

But in a swift response, the FCT Police Command, through its spokesperson Josephine Adeh, described the story as entirely false. She stated that no such incident had been reported or recorded anywhere in Abuja.

“The Command wishes to categorically state that no such incident has been reported or recorded within the Federal Capital Territory,” Adeh said.

She urged the public to disregard the rumour, warning that spreading unverified claims could create unnecessary fear among residents. Adeh encouraged Abuja residents to remain alert and promptly report any suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police station.
