Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar paid a visit to former President Goodluck Jonathan at his Abuja residence on Saturday.

The meeting was their first since Jonathan returned from his election observation assignment in Guinea-Bissau.

Sharing photos of the visit on his verified social media accounts on Sunday, Atiku wrote “It was a pleasure catching up with former President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday evening, following his recent return from Guinea-Bissau.”

Jonathan, who led Nigeria from 2010 to 2015, lost his re-election bid to Muhammadu Buhari in 2015.

The visit comes shortly after Atiku’s official defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

He left the Peoples Democratic Party, stating that the party had strayed from the ideals of its founding fathers.

There are growing indications that Atiku may emerge as the ADC’s presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 elections.
