Popular Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has reacted to the shock resignation of his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Taking to his X account on Tuesday, Davido simply reposted the resignation announcement with the brief caption, “Jeje…”. The one-word reaction meaning “gently” or “take it easy” in Nigerian slang was interpreted by many as a subtle plea for calm as political tensions rise in the state.

Governor Adeleke’s resignation became public on Monday night. His decision was communicated in a letter dated November 4, 2025, addressed to the chairman of Ward 2, Ede North.

According to the governor, persistent and unresolved issues within the PDP’s national leadership compelled him to part ways with the party.

The governor’s exit has thrown the party’s preparations for the 2026 Osun governorship primary into uncertainty. While the PDP’s state chapter insists that the primary should be postponed due to internal conflicts, the National Working Committee has maintained that the process will continue as scheduled even though Adeleke remains the only aspirant who purchased the nomination form.
