The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has been plunged into grief following the death of Oluwafemi Adefulire, the only son of former Lagos State Deputy Governor Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, according to a Thursday report by Vanguard.

Oluwafemi, a medical doctor practising in the United Kingdom, was said to have passed away early Wednesday in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, shortly after undergoing a surgery whose details were not made public.

A family insider confirmed the incident, adding that he leaves behind his wife and children.

The tragic news has sent shockwaves through political circles in Lagos and beyond, with party members, colleagues, and associates expressing deep sorrow.

In a statement issued on Thursday, APC Publicity Secretary Seye Oladejo described the development as heartbreaking, especially for a parent.
“It’s sadly true — the kind of loss every parent dreads. The APC is devastated,” Vanguard quoted him as saying.

He added that Princess Orelope-Adefulire is widely respected within the party, noting that her son’s passing has thrown the entire APC structure in Alimosho and across the state into mourning.
“May his precious soul rest in peace,” he said.

Princess Orelope-Adefulire served as Lagos State Deputy Governor from 2011 to 2015 under Governor Babatunde Fashola.  She currently serves as Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs a position she also held during former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

A prominent grassroots mobiliser, she is the APC’s Political Apex Leader in the Alimosho Federal Constituency and a member of the influential Lagos State Governor’s Advisory Council.

As of Friday, PUNCH Online reports that the family has not yet released additional information or burial plans.
