President Bola Tinubu has applauded the Super Eagles for their outstanding performance against Algeria in the quarter-final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, describing the victory as inspiring.
In a message shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Saturday, the President commended the team’s display and assured them of the full support of Nigerians as they continue their quest for continental glory.
“Brilliant performance… inspiring. Go, Super Eagles! You have the support of all Nigerians,” Tinubu wrote.
Nigeria secured a convincing 2–0 victory over Algeria in Marrakech, thanks to goals from Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams. The win sealed the Super Eagles’ place in the semi-finals and extended their impressive run in the tournament.
So far, Nigeria has emerged as one of the standout teams at AFCON 2025, combining attacking creativity with disciplined defending as they push for a fourth continental title.
The President’s message reflects the growing wave of national support following the team’s latest success. Fans across the country have continued to rally behind the Super Eagles, expressing confidence in their ability to go all the way.
Nigeria will next face host nation Morocco in the semi-finals, with hopes high that the team can maintain their momentum and secure a place in the final.
The Super Eagles previously won the Africa Cup of Nations in 1980, 1994, and 2013, and are now aiming to add a fourth title to their illustrious history.
