Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, has returned to Nigeria from London and is set to travel to Kano on Monday to participate in major political activities amid ongoing political realignments in the state.

Ganduje arrived in Abuja aboard a British Airways flight at about 5:30 a.m. on Monday, following his attendance at the graduation ceremony of his daughter, Fatima, at King’s College, London.

Fatima, who is married to Idris Ajimobi, son of the late former Governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, earned a Master’s degree from the institution during the ceremony held on Thursday.

Confirming the former governor’s return, his Chief of Staff, Muhammad Garba, said Ganduje would immediately resume party-related activities in Kano.

“He has returned to the country this morning and will proceed to Kano later today to take part in important political engagements,” Garba said.

Garba disclosed that Ganduje would play an active role in the All Progressives Congress’ electronic membership registration exercise in the state, a programme he introduced during his tenure as the party’s national chairman.

“He is scheduled to participate in the APC e-registration exercise and also play a key role in activities surrounding the reception of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf into the party,” he said.

The anticipated defection of Governor Yusuf, who was elected on the platform of the New Nigeria Peoples Party in the 2023 elections, has continued to generate significant political interest in Kano, as stakeholders assess its potential impact ahead of the 2027 general elections.
