The All Progressives Congress (APC) has stepped up preparations for its upcoming national convention by unveiling a high-powered Central Coordination Committee to oversee the process.

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has been named Chairman of the committee, while Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, will serve as Secretary, with the party’s national convention is scheduled to hold on March 27 and 28, 2026.

The announcement was made on Monday by the APC National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, who also revealed that Kwara State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, will act as Vice Chairman of the 73-member committee.

According to Basiru, the committee will coordinate all activities leading to the convention, which is expected to mark the final stage of the party’s nationwide congresses at the ward, local government, state and zonal levels. The convention will also usher in a new National Working Committee (NWC) for the ruling party.

The coordination team features a long list of serving governors drawn from across the country, including leaders from Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Benue, Borno, Cross River, Delta, Ebonyi, Edo, Ekiti, Enugu, Gombe, Jigawa, Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Kebbi, Kogi, Lagos, Nasarawa, Niger, Ogun, Ondo, Plateau, Rivers, Sokoto and Taraba states.
Also included are key party elders and national figures such as APC Interim National Chairman Bisi Akande, former party chairmen Adams Oshiomhole, Abdullahi Adamu and Abdullahi Ganduje, as well as the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi, and the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (retd.).
The legislative arm is strongly represented, with Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, their deputies, and several former Senate Presidents and Speakers listed as members.
With this broad-based committee in place, the APC appears determined to ensure a well-organised convention as it prepares for internal leadership changes ahead of future political contests.
