The crescent moon marking the beginning of Ramadan 1447 AH has been officially sighted, signalling the start of the holy month for Muslims.
With the confirmation of the moon sighting, Wednesday, February 18, 2026, has been declared the first day of Ramadan.
The announcement means Muslims across the country and around the world will begin the obligatory fast at dawn on Wednesday, ushering in a month dedicated to prayer, reflection, charity and spiritual renewal.
Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, is observed by millions of faithful who abstain from food, drink and other physical needs from sunrise to sunset as an act of worship and obedience to Allah.
