A member of the House of Representatives, Ginger Onwusibe, has said that Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, is unlikely to oppose President Bola Tinubu if he seeks re-election for a second term.
Onwusibe made the remark on Sunday during the launch of the “Project Switch On Bende” initiative held in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State.
According to him, both the president and the governor have demonstrated enough performance in office to justify another term.
Speaking at the event, the lawmaker described his support for the president as a personal opinion but added that Governor Otti has the political strength in Abia to mobilise support if needed. He also praised the governor’s performance, stating that Otti has surpassed previous administrations in the state.
The event also featured the unveiling of a solar-powered street lighting project facilitated by Frank Chinasa. Chinasa explained that the initiative is aimed at improving security, boosting economic activities, and restoring public confidence in governance.
He disclosed that hundreds of solar street lights have already been installed in parts of Bende, helping to create safer communities and allowing residents, especially traders, to carry out their activities for longer hours.
Chinasa noted that the project aligns with the development agenda of Governor Otti and was supported by the Niger Delta Development Commission under its “Operation Light Up the Niger Delta” programme.
Other stakeholders at the event, including local government officials and community leaders, commended the initiative, describing it as a step in the right direction toward grassroots development. They also urged residents to take responsibility for protecting the facilities to ensure their long-term benefits.
