The People’s Redemption Party (PRP), Osun State chapter, on Friday inaugurated its newly elected executive council members in Osogbo, charging them to strengthen party structures and prepare for the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

The inauguration followed the party’s state congress held on February 18, 2026, in line with directives from the national secretariat and the revised timetable leading to the party’s national convention.

Speaking at the event, the immediate past Caretaker Committee (CTC) Chairman of PRP in Osun State, Biodun Falodun, said the new executives must focus on membership drive, reconciliation of aggrieved members and effective participation in the next gubernatorial election.

“What happened today is the inauguration of our newly elected executive council members of the PRP, Osun State. All these went in line with the directive of the National Secretariat and in accordance with the revised timetable of our congresses,” Falodun said.

He added, “The baton has now been passed to them. They should ensure the recruitment of new members and harmonize any aggrieved members in the party, especially as we approach the incoming gubernatorial election in Osun State.”

In his acceptance speech, the new State Chairman, Hon. Comrade Kazeem Raji, expressed confidence in his ability to reposition the party, citing his decades of experience within its ranks.

“We work based on experience, and I have been with the party for over decades. Experience tells better. Having worked with the former chairman, I believe with God’s grace we will move the party to a greater height in Osun State,” Raji said.

Raji disclosed that the party had already secured a candidate who would contest “from ward to ward and local government to local government” across the state. He also promised improved visibility through branded campaign materials and vehicles.

“We have not branded a car before in Osun State, but now all campaign materials will be available. We are upgrading our members across all local governments. Today is a new day; we are singing a new song in PRP, Osun State,” he said.

The chairman commended the outgoing caretaker committee and the national leadership for ensuring a peaceful transition.

“Our party is a party of peace. The handing over was peaceful. I appreciate the national executive for setting up the five-man committee and the outgoing executives for the good job they have done,” he added.

Also speaking, the newly elected General Secretary of the party, Comrade Afolabi Oluwafunminiyi, pledged to work closely with other executive members to deepen the party’s grassroots presence.

“I was an Assistant Secretary before becoming the General Secretary. We have been working together even before this election. We will go back to our wards and local governments to bring more people into our great party,” he said.

Oluwafunminiyi stressed that unity within the new executive council would be key to repositioning the PRP as a formidable political force in Osun State.

The inauguration ceremony was marked by a peaceful handover and renewed commitment by party leaders to strengthen internal cohesion and expand the party’s influence ahead of future elections in the state.
