The vice president of Galatasaray, Abdullah Kavukcu, has claimed that Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has seen his market value soar to €150 million following his move from Napoli last summer.
Kavukcu, speaking to Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, said the Super Eagles forward has more than justified the €75m the Turkish champions paid for his transfer, insisting that what once looked like a risky investment has now proven to be a masterstroke.
“When we bought him, many people described it as a crazy investment,” Kavukcu said. “But Victor has proved everyone wrong. His value has doubled since he joined us.”
The club executive described Osimhen as one of the finest centre-forwards in world football and expressed confidence in achieving major success with him leading the attack.
Osimhen has been in outstanding form this season, registering 15 goals and five assists in 23 appearances for Galatasaray. His performances have reportedly attracted interest from top European sides, including Atletico Madrid, FC Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich.
The 26-year-old forward has also spoken about his admiration for Juventus, admitting that a return to Italy would appeal to him under the right circumstances.
“If it were possible for me to return to Italy, Juventus is a club where I would take great pleasure in playing,” Osimhen said. “But I am very happy at my current club and fully committed here.”
With his goalscoring exploits and growing reputation across Europe, Osimhen’s stock continues to rise and Galatasaray appear determined to reap the rewards of their bold investment.
