Market leaders, traditional rulers, and community heads in Ogun West have thrown their weight behind the re-election bid of Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the 2027 governorship ambition of Solomon Adeola.

The endorsement was made on Wednesday at a gathering in Ilaro, where the groups comprising traders and members of the Baales Forum also pledged to mobilise grassroots support to secure victory for both candidates in the 2027 elections.

Speaking at the event, the Babaloja of Yewaland and Ogun State, Chief Adewale Adesina, said their support was driven by the leaders’ contributions to infrastructure and social development. He noted that Tinubu’s economic reforms, though tough, were beginning to stabilise the nation’s finances, warranting continuity beyond 2027.

Adesina also praised Adeola’s track record, citing projects such as schools, roads, hospitals, and empowerment programmes across Ogun West. He expressed confidence in Adeola’s ability to build on the achievements of Dapo Abiodun if elected governor.

He, however, stressed that endorsements alone were not enough, urging residents to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and actively participate in the electoral process. According to him, the group aims to mobilise at least 500,000 votes and will soon launch a campaign tagged “Show Your PVC.”

Also speaking, the Iyaloja-General of Ogun State, Chief Yemisi Abass, said the endorsement was meant to sustain what she described as the good work of both leaders through mass mobilisation.

On behalf of the Baales Forum, Simeon Fagbohun said over 1,000 community heads were ready to rally support for Tinubu and Adeola, citing the senator’s developmental projects and capacity to transform the state.

Similarly, Oba Isaac Adeisa, the Ogiyan of Alari, who spoke for other coronet traditional rulers, confirmed their collective decision to back Tinubu’s re-election and Adeola’s governorship bid, citing their economic and developmental efforts as key reasons for the endorsement.
