Tottenham Hotspur have parted ways with head coach Igor Tudor after just seven matches, as the club’s fight to avoid relegation intensifies.
The decision, announced on Sunday, was described as a mutual agreement. However, it follows a poor run of results that saw Tudor lose five of his seven games in charge, leaving Spurs just one point above the relegation zone in the Premier League.
Tudor’s exit also comes at a difficult personal time, as the club acknowledged the recent death of his father and expressed support for him and his family.
His final match in charge was a damaging 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest, after which he did not face the media.
The 47-year-old was appointed in February following the dismissal of Thomas Frank, but was unable to halt the club’s alarming decline. Tottenham have not recorded a league win since December and have already been eliminated from all cup competitions this season.
Plagued by injuries and inconsistent form, Spurs now find themselves in a tense relegation battle alongside clubs like West Ham United, Leeds United, and Nottingham Forest.
Despite their status as one of England’s “Big Six” and their recent Europa League triumph under Ange Postecoglou, the North London side have struggled to maintain stability. Postecoglou himself was sacked after a disappointing league finish last season.
Tottenham are next in action in two weeks when they travel to face Sunderland AFC, with seven crucial games remaining that will determine whether they can avoid a shocking drop to the Championship.
