Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Iyabo Ojo, has announced she is stepping away from attempts to broker peace between colleagues Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham, following renewed tensions between the two stars.
In a detailed post shared on her Instagram page on Tuesday, Ojo addressed the backlash she has received over her involvement in the long-running rift and reflected on her past efforts to bring both parties together.
She explained that her friendship with Akindele spans several years, despite periods of disagreement. Ojo admitted that she once publicly criticised Akindele over issues linked to Abraham’s movie, a move she now regrets.
According to her, she later reconciled with Akindele and went to great lengths to mend the relationship between the two actresses.
“I did everything I could, I cried, knelt, and begged them to make peace, which they eventually did,” she said, noting that their reconciliation was based on an agreement to avoid public disputes and handle disagreements privately.
However, the fragile truce reportedly broke down in December after Abraham raised concerns about alleged sabotage affecting her film’s cinema performance.
The claims sparked speculation among fans, many of whom pointed fingers at Akindele, reigniting tensions.
Ojo also clarified issues surrounding her upcoming movie, The Return of Arinzo, revealing that Abraham was initially part of the project but withdrew at the last minute due to exhaustion and travel commitments. She admitted the decision affected production, requiring script changes, but said they later resolved their differences.
Despite her efforts, Ojo said she has now drawn the line.
“I’ve tried my best, but I can’t beg anyone anymore. I don’t want to be involved again. When they are ready, they will make peace,” she stated, adding that she still holds affection for both actresses.
She also used the opportunity to promote her new film, which is set to premiere in cinemas nationwide on April 3.
The development comes amid fresh public scrutiny of the relationship between Akindele and Abraham after a viral video from a recent movie premiere in Lagos showed what many interpreted as a subtle snub between the two further fueling speculation that their differences remain unresolved.
