A Kano-based mother, Hafsatu Yusuf, has safely delivered a rare set of quintuplets at Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, with the state government stepping in to cover the cost of their medical care.

The development was confirmed in a statement released by the Kano State Ministry of Health through its Public Relations Officer, Nabilusi Na’isa.

According to the statement, Yusuf gave birth to five babies, three boys and two girls who alongside their mother, are currently receiving specialised medical attention at the hospital.

Her husband, Salisu Nufi’u, a tricycle rider, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the government for the timely intervention, noting that the support came at a critical time for the family.

“This support means a lot to us, especially at a moment like this. We are truly grateful,” he said.

The Kano State Government explained that the move aligns with its ongoing efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery, particularly in the areas of maternal and child health.

It reaffirmed its commitment to reducing maternal and infant mortality rates while ensuring that quality healthcare services remain accessible, especially to vulnerable members of society.

Quintuplets-five babies born in a single pregnancy are extremely rare and often require intensive medical care due to the high risks associated with multiple births.
