Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, is set to deliver a sermon at Lambeth Palace on Thursday as part of events marking President Bola Tinubu’s ongoing state visit to the United Kingdom.
Lambeth Palace, the official residence of the Archbishop of Canterbury and a key centre of the Church of England, will host the First Lady during her engagement. She is also expected to meet with top representatives of the Church as part of her itinerary.
According to details released by Agence France-Presse (AFP), the visit forms part of a broader diplomatic mission aimed at strengthening ties between Nigeria and the UK.
This trip is particularly significant, marking Nigeria’s first state visit to the United Kingdom in nearly 40 years. It is expected to focus on deepening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation across key sectors.
President Tinubu and his wife arrived in London on Tuesday via Stansted Airport, ahead of a packed schedule of high-level engagements. The President is expected to hold talks with King Charles III and Keir Starmer, alongside meetings with members of the Nigerian community in the UK.
A devoted Christian and ordained pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Mrs Tinubu has remained actively involved in faith-based initiatives and women’s empowerment programmes in Nigeria.
