President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the recent deadly attacks in Maiduguri, assuring residents that the Federal Government will intensify efforts to crush terrorist groups behind the violence.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the President sympathized with families of those killed and injured, describing the attacks as disturbing and painful. He also reassured the people of Borno State that the government remains committed to restoring peace and security.

Tinubu said the attacks reflect the growing pressure being mounted on insurgents by Nigeria’s security forces, noting that such acts are “desperate attempts” to spread fear.

“These are the last frantic moves by criminal and terrorist elements trying to create panic as they face sustained pressure from our armed forces,” he stated.

The President reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to hunt down and eliminate terrorists across the country, stressing that no part of Nigeria will be safe for them.

He also praised the efforts of security personnel who successfully repelled coordinated attacks on military positions, describing their response as brave and commendable.

Tinubu revealed that additional military equipment and operational support had already been approved to strengthen ongoing counter-terrorism operations. He further directed security chiefs to relocate to Maiduguri to oversee the situation firsthand.

Emergency response agencies have also been mobilised to provide immediate care and support for victims of the attacks.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army has warned residents about the possible presence of more suicide bombers in the city, urging people to stay away from crowded areas and remain alert.

The warning follows Monday’s coordinated explosions in key locations, including the Post Office area, Monday Market, and near the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital. The attacks reportedly claimed 23 lives and left over 100 people injured.

Authorities, including the Borno State Police Command, said the affected areas have been secured and are undergoing thorough checks to prevent further threats.

Residents have been urged to stay vigilant and report any suspicious movement as security agencies continue operations to prevent another attack.
