The National Association of Nigerian Students has commended Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, for executing projects aimed at improving the welfare and development of students and youths, while declaring support for his second-term bid.
The NANS South-West Treasurer, Femi Asaolu, gave the commendation during a leadership tour of projects executed by the state government across Ado Ekiti and other parts of the state.
Projects Impress Student Leaders
According to Asaolu, key projects inspected included facilities at Ekiti State University, the ICT Centre and ongoing hospital projects at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, the 18-kilometre Ado Ekiti Ring Road, the Ekiti Cargo International Airport, and the ongoing Ado Ekiti flyover.
“These projects… directly benefit students and young people, improve learning conditions and overall welfare,” Asaolu said.
He added that the administration’s prudent management of resources was evident in the scale and quality of completed and ongoing projects.
Support for Second Term
The student body reaffirmed its backing for Oyebanji’s re-election, stressing that continuity in leadership would sustain the pace of development in the state.
“We reaffirm the collective support of students in Ekiti State for Governor Oyebanji’s re-election. Continuity in leadership is essential,” Asaolu stated.
Stakeholders Echo Praise
A former NANS South-West Coordinator, Taiwo Owolewa, described the projects as impactful, noting that initiatives such as the Ado Ekiti flyover would enhance transportation and economic growth.
“This project will add value to the state and ease transportation for residents,” he said.
Other student leaders, including Temiloluwa Oluwakayode and Michael Oluwaseun, praised the administration’s efforts in education, infrastructure, and student welfare, citing improvements in subventions, bursaries, and campus facilities.
Focus on Youth Development
The NANS delegation also highlighted initiatives such as agricultural programmes at YSJ Farms, aimed at engaging youths and promoting food security.
Governor Oyebanji, whose tenure ends in October 2026, is seeking re-election in the June 20 governorship poll under the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
The endorsement by the student body adds to growing political support as the state prepares for the upcoming election.
