- Suspected gunmen have shot dead a pastor, Emmanuel Ezeoikwe, in Zinal village, Song Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The attack occurred in the early hours of Tuesday at the victim’s residence. Police authorities said the incident was reported at about 6:30 a.m.
Confirming the development, the spokesperson for the Adamawa State Police Command, Suleiman Nguroje, said the assailants invaded the village around 12:48 a.m. and opened fire on the victim.
He stated that police operatives swiftly responded to the report and found the pastor’s lifeless body at the scene. The victim was taken to a hospital, where a doctor confirmed him dead, while his remains were deposited in the morgue for autopsy.
Nguroje added that three empty AK-47 shells were recovered from the scene, as investigations into the killing have commenced.
He said the Commissioner of Police, Kabir Hassan, has ordered a discreet investigation and deployed tactical teams to track down those responsible.
The police urged residents to remain calm and provide useful information that could assist in apprehending the attackers.
