President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, on his victory in Saturday’s governorship election, describing the outcome as a strong endorsement of continuity, stability and people-focused leadership.
In a congratulatory message issued after the declaration of results, the President said the governor’s renewed mandate reflected the confidence of Ekiti residents in his administration’s performance.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had earlier declared Oyebanji, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), winner of the election.
Reacting to the result, Tinubu commended the people of Ekiti State for conducting themselves peacefully throughout the electoral process and for expressing their choice through the ballot.
He also praised security agencies for maintaining order and ensuring a peaceful atmosphere during the exercise.
The President urged INEC to sustain efforts toward delivering peaceful, free, fair and credible elections as the country prepares for the Osun State governorship election in August and the 2027 general elections.
According to Tinubu, Oyebanji’s re-election marks a historic moment in Ekiti politics, noting that the governor has become the first elected governor in the state to secure consecutive re-election victories.
He stated that Oyebanji’s first term recorded progress across several sectors including infrastructure, agriculture, youth employment, education, healthcare and rural development.
Tinubu said the fresh mandate received by the governor demonstrates public support for sustaining ongoing development efforts and maintaining stable governance in the state.
The President expressed confidence that the governor would build on his first-term achievements and continue delivering dividends of democracy to the people of Ekiti.
