Germany produced a stunning attacking performance as they swept aside Curacao 7–1 in their World Cup clash on Saturday, delivering one of the most emphatic wins of the tournament so far.
The European giants took control early in the match, with F. Nmecha opening the scoring in the 6th minute before N. Schlotterbeck doubled the lead in the 38th minute to put Germany firmly in command.
Curacao briefly responded through L. Comenencia in the 21st minute, but the goal did little to shift momentum as Germany’s attacking quality proved overwhelming.
Kai Havertz was the star of the show, netting twice including a penalty in first-half stoppage time before adding another in the 88th minute to cap a brilliant individual performance.
Jamal Musiala also got on the scoresheet shortly after the restart in the 47th minute, while N. Brown and D. Undav added further goals in the 68th and 78th minutes respectively to complete the rout.
The result saw Germany finish the match strongly after a 3–1 lead at half-time, turning the second half into a one-sided affair as Curacao struggled to cope with the pace and precision of their opponents.
With this victory, Germany send a strong message to their rivals as they continue their push in the tournament, while Curacao are left to reflect on a difficult outing against one of Europe’s most clinical sides.
