Spanish giants Barcelona have reportedly decided not to make Marcus Rashford’s stay at the club permanent, ending speculation over the forward’s long-term future.

According to reports from Spanish outlet Marca, Barcelona will not activate the £26 million purchase option included in Rashford’s agreement, paving the way for the England international to return to following this summer’s FIFA World Cup.

The decision means Rashford’s spell with the Catalan club is expected to come to an end once his current arrangement expires.

The 28-year-old attacker had been linked with a permanent move to Barcelona after spending time with the La Liga side, but the club has now reportedly chosen not to proceed with a full transfer.

As a result, Rashford is set to head back to Old Trafford, where discussions regarding his future are likely to take centre stage ahead of the new season.

Neither Barcelona nor Manchester United has officially commented on the report, but the development is expected to fuel further speculation over the next chapter of Rashford’s career.
