The Secretary to the Osun State Government (SSG), Chief Teslim Igbalaye, has regained his freedom after being released from police custody.
Reacting to his release, the Imole Campaign Council expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police and the Commissioner of Police, Osun State Command, for what it described as listening to the voice of reason and responding to public calls over the arrest.
In a statement issued on Thursday by its spokesperson, Pelumi Olajengbesi, Esq., the council welcomed Igbalaye’s release but called for the immediate and unconditional release of other political detainees still in police custody.
The council maintained that the Nigerian Police Force best serves the country when it upholds justice, the rule of law and protects the rights of citizens.
“We sincerely appreciate the Inspector General of Police and the Commissioner of Police, Osun State Command, for listening to the voice of reason despite pressure and for responding to the people’s demand regarding the unlawful arrest of the Secretary to the State Government, Chief Igbalaye Teslim,” the statement read.
It added, “We are pleased that the SSG has now been released by the Police. We, however, demand the immediate and unconditional release of all other political detainees still being held.”
The campaign council further commended Igbalaye for what it described as his courage and commitment to the people of Osun State.
“Welcome back, Chief Igbalaye Teslim. Your courage and sacrifice for the people of Osun State will not be forgotten. Our SSG is out, back and solid,” the statement added.
