The Leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has expressed doubts over the chances of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential ticket of Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso in the 2027 general election, saying he does not see the pair making significant electoral impact.

Primate Ayodele, who is known for frequently commenting on Nigeria’s political landscape and offering predictions on major elections, made the remarks while addressing members of his congregation in a video shared on his X account.

The cleric argued that Obi and Kwankwaso would have stood a stronger chance if the NDC had aligned with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to form a united opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

According to him, contesting the election as a standalone party could weaken the chances of the former Anambra State governor and the former Kano State governor.

“You see the NDC in Nigeria, if only you had listened. Instead of going into the election alone, you should have merged with the ADC to form a coalition,” Ayodele said.

“But going solo, the NDC is not in the calculation. They call it ‘OK’, but I’m not seeing anything okay. I do not see ‘OK’ (Obi and Kwankwaso) going anywhere in the 2027 presidential election.”

Obi and Kwankwaso emerged as the presidential and vice-presidential candidates of the NDC after leaving the ADC in May, citing internal disagreements and lingering legal disputes within the party.

Their emergence has continued to generate political debate, with supporters describing the ticket as a formidable alliance capable of reshaping Nigeria’s political landscape, while critics have questioned the party’s structure and electoral strength ahead of the 2027 polls.

Ayodele’s latest remarks add to a series of political commentaries by the outspoken cleric, who has over the years been vocal in assessing politicians, political parties and election prospects in Nigeria. His predictions have often sparked public debate, particularly during election seasons.
