As Osun State prepares for its governorship election on Saturday, August 15, 2026, a music artiste, Adigun Akinrinmade, popularly known as Akinmade, has teamed up with Love Adigun to promote peaceful participation through a new song titled Dibo Ma se ja, meaning “Vote Not Fight.”
The song, was released ahead of the governorship polls, promotes peaceful and non violent engagement, urging voters to exercise their democratic rights in a peaceful way.
Through Díbọ̀ Má Ṣe Já, Akinmade and Love Adigun use Yoruba music to communicate a message that voting should not become a reason for conflict among citizens, supporters of different political parties or communities.
The title of the song, Díbọ̀ Má Ṣe Já, directly captures its central message: “Vote Not Fight.” The artistes encourage voters to express their political choices at their respective polling unit while also respecting the choices of other citizens.
The release comes at a time when when tension is becoming high and attention is increasingly focused on ensuring a peaceful electoral process in Osun State. Recent reports have also highlighted the importance of peace as the state approaches the August 15 poll. Rather than promoting a particular political candidate, the song focuses on the responsibility of voters to participate peacefully in the democratic process.
In a chat with InsightMedia, Akinmade said the song was informed by the need to curb the menace of electoral violence that has become rampant in Osun State.
“I derived the inspiration from the numerous crisis that has been witnessed in the last few weeks. As a young artiste and campaigner for social change, I think it’s good to lend my voice to call for an end to the political crisis that we have witnessed in the last few weeks,” he said.
