It was a very memorable and remarkable moment in Osogbo as Kindawaz College of Advanced Studies celebrated its 10th anniversary marking a season of impact amongst its staff and students.
The milestone celebration, held on Saturday, brought together dignitaries, alumni, staff, students, parents, partners, friends, well-wishers and members of the public to celebrate 10 years of “impact, growth and excellence”.
In his speech, Dr. Oladele Akindele, the Director of the institution recounted his journey from dark times to when he received the vision of birthing Kindawaz Academy and the power of purpose.
Oladele said, “For me, finding my way into the university was not an easy journey. It took years. For about 7 years, I waited and searched for a way forward. Then, one day, through an A’ Level programme, I finally gained admission into the university.”
“If I could eventually achieve my long-standing dream through this pathway, then I must help other people find their way through it. I must make sure that others do not have to go through the same difficulties and frustrations that I experienced. This was how Kindawaz Academy was born,” Oladele declared.
The proprietor praised the academy for its enduring contributions to the community, highlighting lives of notable individuals across the country which has been changed and key milestones achieved over the past 10 years such as helping young people gain access to university education through her IJMB and JUPEB schemes, giving hope to families, created opportunities and even blessed members of his own family.
“If the first 10 years were about discovering the vision, building the foundation and touching lives, then I believe the next chapter must be about greater impact, greater excellence and reaching even more people”.
Alhaji Salaam Adekola, who was described as a major contributor to the growth of institution spoke on the giant strides made by the institution in one decade.
He said, “I’ve been with Kindawaz for a long time, like we started the journey together. He used to call me Baba Kindawaz. It is sort of a friendship that is symbiotic and I love the man for his sincerity. I don’t work in Kindawaz but I love him, his righteousness, doggedness and his focus.
“The institutionhas has done great things and cintributed meaningfully to the development of its students and education in general.”
“Dr. Oladele Akindele whilst talking about the awardees of which I am one, he let the people know that he started the programme in my place and since then we have been together”.
Mr. Afolabi Oluwasegun, an Administrator officer at Kindawaz Academy, said he considered his works at Kindawaz as a way of impacting lives.
He said, “Considering this as a great privilege, one of my passion is impacting people’s lives because there are people in my life I can never write a letter without mentioning their names and to the glory of God, the three aspects of life that I’ve been able to function, I have been able to impact life. I am a Pastor, a tutor and administrator… seeing some of our ex-students and the positions in the society the Lord has put them, it amazes me, people I was privileged to tutor so I have been able to impact lives by the grace of God.”
Also speaking was Olawale Michael, a graduate turned staff at Kindawaz Academy, who narrated how his journey was made easier by the institution.
