There is growing concern in Agbado, Ogun State, following the disappearance of a teenager, Imole Ilesanmi, who has been missing for eight days.
Imole reportedly left her family home at about 3pm on Sunday, September 20, 2026, and has not been seen or heard from since.
Speaking on Sunday, her father said Imole was at home when he asked her to prepare food for him. The family later learnt that she intended to visit a cleric, identified as an Alfa, in the Popóshóla area after cooking.
“She went missing on Sunday around 3pm. She was at home and I asked her to cook for me. The information we got was that she said she wanted to go and see an Alfa in that area after cooking. Since then, we have not heard from her,” he said.
According to him, efforts to reach his daughter were unsuccessful. Her phone reportedly rang from Sunday until Monday morning, but no one answered the calls.
He added that Imole’s friends and other people contacted by the family also confirmed that she had mentioned going towards the area.
The family subsequently reported the matter at the Agbado Police Station. The cleric Imole was reportedly planning to visit was initially arrested but later released.
The father said the family had also been confronted with several unverified reports about Imole’s whereabouts, including claims that her body had been found.
“Since we started posting everywhere, different rumours have been coming. Some people would say they found her body or that they found something concerning her, but when we checked, we discovered that the information was fake,” he said.
He described the situation as distressing for the family, saying they had been receiving conflicting information and were unsure which reports to believe.
The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Babaseyi Oluseyi, had yet to respond to enquiries about the case as of the time of filing this report.
However, a senior police officer familiar with the incident confirmed the case but declined to provide further details, citing a lack of authorisation to speak with the media.
The family continues to seek information that could help locate Imole and determine her whereabouts.
