President Bola Tinubu has concluded his working vacation in France and departed Paris for Nigeria.
The President’s aircraft is expected to arrive at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos later today, where he will begin a series of engagements before returning to Abuja.
Tinubu is expected to use his stay in Lagos to honour the memory of the late Chief MKO Abiola, widely recognised as the winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election and a symbol of Nigeria’s democratic struggle.
As part of activities marking Nigeria’s Independence Day, the President is scheduled to attend the premiere of a movie celebrating Abiola’s life and legacy at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre in Iganmu, Lagos.
During his stay in the state, Tinubu is also expected to hold meetings with political leaders, associates and other stakeholders ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Insightlinks recalls that the President left Abuja on August 30 for the working vacation, spending about a week in London before proceeding to Paris.
In Paris, Tinubu held a private dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron and met with business leaders, including Vincent Bolloré of the Bolloré Group, whose interests include Canal+, MultiChoice and Universal Music Group.
He also met with the Chairman of First Holdings, Femi Otedola, on Monday.
Last week, the President witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ogun State Government and DP World for the development of a deep seaport at Ogun Waterside and the establishment of a Blue Marine Economic Zone.
DP World, a global ports and logistics company, is expected to invest $7 billion in the proposed seaport and economic zone.
President Tinubu is expected to return to Abuja after concluding his political engagements in Lagos.
